Gregory C. Smith

Gregory C. Smith, P.E., Ph.D., is a registered and licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer specializing in automotive design and crashworthiness analysis, and automobile accident research and reconstruction. Before joining Collision Safety Engineering, L.C., Dr. Smith worked as a research engineer at Battelle Pacific Northwest Laboratories; as a technical consultant to the United States Department of Energy; as a design analyst at Garrett AiResearch and Pneumatic Systems Division; and as a consultant to Minority Enterprise Service Associates.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Dr. Smith has published several engineering papers, has served on national technical committees, and has been a part-time instructor at Mesa Community College, Rio Salado Community College, and Brigham Young University – his alma mater. He has also been a guest lecturer at Utah Valley University.

Credentials & Professional Honors

Dr. Smith graduated with honors from Brigham Young University in 1975 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He completed his M.E. in Mechanical Engineering at BYU that same year, and later completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at BYU in 1988. He received the Ralph H. Isbrandt Automotive Safety Engineering Award in 1984.
